With its supercharged V8 producing 815 horsepower and 664 pound-feet of torque, the Ford Mustang GTD can reach a top speed of 325 km/h. However, it's not on the straights where it truly shines, but rather on the most winding race tracks.
In short, this is the most powerful and extreme version of the Mustang ever created. Well, Ford has decided to take things even further with the Ford Mustang GTD Liquid Carbon.
A Track Beast
Unveiled at the legendary Laguna Seca circuit, the Ford Mustang GTD Liquid Carbon is, as its name suggests, a car that heavily relies on carbon fiber. As you can probably guess, this material makes up most of its bodywork.
However, things are different for the Liquid Carbon edition since paint has been completely removed from the process. On top of that, the door panels, which are normally made of metal on the regular GTD, have also been replaced with carbon fiber. Altogether, this allowed engineers to shave 13 pounds off the car's total weight. It may sound minimal, but it's exactly the kind of detail that can make a real difference on the track.
Beyond its technical benefits, the exposed carbon fiber gives the American sports car a striking appearance. Let's just say it doesn't go unnoticed.
As for the interior, the Ford Mustang GTD Liquid Carbon comes with an elevated finish featuring black leather, suede microfiber trim, and lime-colored stitching to further enhance the cabin's design.
At the Top of the Lineup
Despite the absence of paint, the Mustang GTD Liquid Carbon stands as the ultimate edition of the model one that comes with a rather hefty price tag. We know that the starting price of the American muscle car is set at $327,960 USD for the base version. For the Liquid Carbon edition, we can expect a bill of over $350,000 USD.
