2024 was a year full of twists and turns in the automotive industry. Some models saw a significant rise in popularity, while others experienced monumental declines. Nonetheless, overall sales increased by 8.2% in 2024, which is good news for the market.

Unsurprisingly, the Ford F-Series once again dominated sales in Canada in the pickup truck category, marking its 59th consecutive year at the top. The F-Series includes the F-150 and the Super Duty lineup, which slightly inflates the numbers, to be fair. However, it’s worth noting that this strategy is employed by all pickup truck manufacturers.

Rising Numbers for Most Models

A total of 133,857 F-Series vehicles were sold in 2024, representing an 8.6% increase compared to 2023. Ford remains by far the manufacturer offering the most extensive and diverse range of pickup trucks. It’s therefore no surprise that the F-Series is once again at the top of the sales charts.

The gap with the second-best-selling vehicle is quite significant, as 77,556 units of the runner-up were sold in 2024. In case you’re curious, it’s not another pickup truck but the Toyota RAV4, a model that has been making waves in recent years thanks to its hybrid and plug-in hybrid versions. The RAV4 was therefore the most popular SUV in Canada in 2024.

The GMC Sierra takes third place with 59,912 units, followed by the RAM 1500 with 56,992 units sold. The Honda CR-V ranks fifth with 55,363 units. Meanwhile, the Chevrolet Silverado holds the sixth spot in the top 10 with 52,078 units. The Nissan Rogue comes in seventh place.

The Honda Civic was the most popular car in Canada last year, reclaiming the title from the Corolla, which had taken the top spot in both 2022 and 2023. With 31,774 units sold in 2024, the Civic is also the only car to make it into the top 10 most popular models in Canada in 2024.

In ninth position, we find another Ford model, the Escape, with 31,037 units sold. The popular Hyundai Kona rounds out the top 10 with 20,020 units sold.
