Ford Is Making a Special Edition Heritage for the 2023 F-150

Some 1970s and 1980s trends are coming back later, which is why Ford chose this period as a source of inspiration for its 2023 F-150 Heritage Edition. Technically, we celebrated the truck's arrival on the market 75 years ago. So yes, if you made the equation here, 75 years ago brings us to the 1950s. So why Ford didn't you choose a livery based on this time? The American manufacturer didn't explain why it chose the 1970s and 1980s as inspiration other than that two-tone paint was cool back then. And looking back, I think it is still very cool today.

The 2023 F-150 Heritage Edition will be available only for a limited period, although Ford didn't confirm if there is a limited number of units yet. I think that Ford will produce whatever how many orders they get for the production time set for this special edition. If they receive 15 000 requests for the Heritage Edition, then they will produce 15 000 units. I might be wrong here, but I am convinced I am not that far from reality.

Also, it is good to know that the Heritage Edition package will be available with the XLT trim and no others. It is an exciting choice from Ford since most previous special editions were available on XLT and Lariat trim. There might be other constraints that we don't know yet, but it looks like you will be able to pair the Heritage Edition package with everything you can get with a regular XLT F-150.

There will be five color combos to choose from and five only.

  • Race Red midsection, with upper and lower Carbonized Gray
  • Atlas Blue midsection, with upper and lower Agate Black
  • Antimatter Blue midsection, with upper and lower Carbonized Gray
  • Avalanche midsection, with upper and lower Agate Black
  • Area 51 midsection, with upper and lower Agate Black

Other than that, each 2023 F-150 Heritage Edition will be grated with a "75 Years" logo on the upper part of its windshield. This logo will be white, which will make it pop even more. Some interior elements will also be unique to the F-150 Heritage Edition, such as embossing the console or trim cover with a special insert.

Ford told us it would be possible to order the 2023 F-150 Heritage Edition starting mid-July. The couple's first units should come to dealers later these years since production will begin this fall. So, of course, we don't have pricing information yet, but we expect this new Heritage Edition package to cost anywhere between $3 000 and $5 000. Also, for now, this is the only major update on the 2023 F-150, but we might discover more when the American manufacturer opens the order banks.

If I needed a truck, I would choose the Antimatter Blue midsection with upper and lower Carbonized Gray. And you, what is your favorite combo?
